Moving...sort of.

Wow. It's been a long time.

I decided a little while back that I need to start blogging again. This time, however, I'm taking things in a slightly new direction. I need a fresh start. So, I probably won't be blogging here on Xanga, at least for some time. Instead, you can find me (and Taras, if he'll actually post anything) at our new joint blog. There are several reasons for the switch to Blogger...but it's not because I don't like Xanga or want to lose my Xanga friends. On the contrary, I hope to keep all my old friends and make some new ones, too. That's why I'm letting you know where to find me.

Hope to "see" you there!

Sneak Peek

I hope you won't be terribly disappointed, but this is really just a preview (I guess you could call it a teaser trailer of sorts...like one of those 10-second previews of a 3-hour epic movie). Since I haven't posted on here for over 3 months, there is no way I could do justice to a post now. So, I have developed a plan for catching up as much as possible while still retaining my sanity (and my life).

This post will give you a mere glimpse of what I have to tell you about, and then you'll have to wait to get the rest of each story...one at a time, most likely. Sorry to be such a tightwad, but I the only other option was to skip most of the story and just post some photos. I'll do that, too, but I'll try to tell you more as I go.

Anyway, here's what you can look forward to reading more about in the future...
  • Our wonderful (and way too short) visit to Belarus...
  • An interesting (but productive) interview with an Immigration officer...
  • A whirlwind trip to Texas and a new sister-in-law...
  • The experiences of a new Sophomore at MTSU...
  • A special anniversary trip...
  • Our very own new/old car...
  • ...with photos and commentary (that is, if you leave comments )!
I can't promise to deliver all this by any certain date, but I will try to get to everything eventually. I expect I'll be spending some semi-solitary evenings this fall amusing myself while my studious husband does homework, so maybe I'll get back into the world of blogging. We'll see...

Random Thoughts

I suppose this is really cheating, but I don't feel like writing a "real" post tonight. So, here are some random thoughts of various levels of significance just off the top of my head. I've added non-verbal emotional responses for your amusement.

Gere goes...

First of all, we leave for Belarus in 9 days!!! Very exciting!

Today I got my new Russian grammar and vocabulary textbooks in the mail from Amazon.com.

I had to return the copies of the Russian textbooks I had to the library. Turns out you can only renew them 3 times before you have to give them back.

Taras registered online for his fall classes at MTSU this morning, finally.

I haven't seen Taras since 5:55 this morning, when I left for work.

He gets off work in an hour, though (at 11:00pm), and I'll be there to pick him up and bring him home!

I like to dance barefoot when nobody's watching. :blushing:

My brother gets married in 39 days.

Taras and I get to drive 800+ miles to Houston in 37 days.

At least 10% of my monthly income is spent on gasoline.

Speaking of Texas, I think it's rather ironic that Josh and Katie are getting married in Katy, TX.

Turns out there's a Joshua, TX, too...but it's near Fort Worth.

I think I'll go bake some cookies for Taras (and for me, too, I admit...it's not totally altruistic).

Great news! Today I got my new US passport, complete with my new last name and a visa to travel to Belarus in a few weeks! It looks different from my old passport (not only because I was 19 when the last one was issued)--the design has changed. If you haven't seen one of these cool new passports--and you're actually interested in seeing what they look like--click here.

Anyway, that is very good news for me and Taras, because it is the last thing we needed in order to be able to go to Belarus in May. We already have his paperwork and our airline tickets, and we leave in only 20 days!!! (I'm excited...can you tell?)

Well, that's all for now. I need to take a little nap and do some ironing before I go pick up Taras from work. Oh, the joys of being a wife! Maybe I'll still have time to study a little Russian or read some more Chekhov...we'll see...

Hello. It's me again.

This is the first time in a while that I've posted on here just because I felt like it (rather than out of guilt for neglecting it so long). Since I don't have any massive updates to give, I hardly know what to say.

I'm off work today because it's Good Friday (and I work for a Christian company). Taras has been working since 8:00 this morning, but he'll be home soon. Actually, I believe this is the first time in our married life that I've been home all day while Taras has been at work. It's kinda different.

Well, Taras just called me to come pick him up. He usually walks, but with this unusually cold April weather, I'm driving him when I can.

Speaking of which, what happened to our nice warm Spring? I hope it comes back soon.
